In 1973, a mysterious alien lifeform known as the BETA began their invasion of Earth. In 1998, only 2 billion humans remain on the planet and entire continents have been lost. To combat the invasion, large fighting mecha known as TSFs were developed that allow human pilots to fight the aliens on equal footing. The BETA have now set their sights on Japan and the rookie TSF pilot Sayako Komaki has been ordered to report the base at Sadogashima.With most of their veteran pilots away defending a vulnerable high ground at Niigata, the BETA take advantage of their weakened defenses and choose the vulnerable base as their landing point from across the ocean.
