Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys!

During the Bakumatsu era, when samurai dominated Japan, the orphan Ichibanboshi wandered in search of vengeance after his parents and younger brother were murdered by samurai wearing strange masks. One fateful day, he was sentenced to death for opposing a samurai who was about to slaughter innocent people.
Just as he braced himself for execution, he found himself taken to an unfamiliar mansion, where he encountered six others who were also condemned to die: Sakuya, Shiro, Tsugugen, Suzuran, Gyaku Taro, and another individual, alongside Toudou Heisuke, who claimed to be a survivor of the Shinsengumi. To avoid the death penalty, they proposed to substitute for the Shinsengumi executives, all of whom had been annihilated by a masked gang.
Initially reluctant due to his resentment towards samurai, Ichibanboshi learned that the murderer he sought — the "Oni of the Zamen" — was the same as the one who had slain the Shinsengumi. Without hesitation, he joined the Shinsengumi, ready to fight alongside Kondo Isami, their captain, despite lacking samurai training.
