In the year 11945, Earth is a desolate wasteland overtaken by aliens and their Machine Lifeforms. Androids, created by humanity, battle these machines in a drawn-out proxy war. The elite YoRHa androids, including 2B and 9S, are dispatched from their orbital Bunker to gather intelligence and support the Resistance. As they confront hostile machines, they encounter various characters: Resistance leader Lily, ancient twins Devola and Popola, pacifist Machine leader Pascal, the Machine Network's avatars Adam and Eve, rogue A2, and Emil, the heart of Pascal's village.
