Ranma ½

On a training trip in China, Ranma and his father Genma fall victim to the cursed springs at Jusenkyo. When one is submerged, they are doomed to take the form of whatever had drowned in that spring many years ago. Genma falls into the spring of drowned panda, while Ranma has the misfortune of falling into the spring of drowned girl. Hot water will restore them to their original forms, but only until they are splashed with cold water again.

After returning to Japan, Genma tells Ranma they are going to visit his old friend Soun Tendo, and due to a promise made years ago, Ranma finds out he is promised to marry one of Tendo's three daughters. Ranma is only interested in returning to China to find a cure for their curse, but until they can find away to return, they have no choice but to take advantage of Genma's old friend as freeloaders. After it's decided that he will marry the youngest daughter Akane, who is even less excited about the match than he is, Ranma begins his life at the Tendo household where many old friends and enemies alike will no doubt show up on his doorstep.
