Five years after the Principality of Zeon won the One Year War, Amate Yuzuriha, a high school student from the space colony Side 6, encounters Nyaan, a war refugee. This meeting draws her into a conflict involving both the Principality of Zeon and the Space Police, who are searching for the missing Red Gundam, which has reappeared after five years. To capture the Red Gundam, Zeon deploys Xavier Olivette in the gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX, a prototype Gundam designed for Newtype pilots. However, in his attempt to seize the Red Gundam, Xavier crashes into the space colony and is ejected from the GQuuuuuuX. Seizing the opportunity, Amate suddenly jumps into the cockpit, takes control of the GQuuuuuuX, and defeats the Police Force, allowing the Red Gundam to escape. The GQuuuuuuX is then claimed by the Pomeranians, an underground group of mechanics involved in Clan Battles, a series of illegal and high-stakes Mobile Suit duels. After meeting Shuji, the pilot of the Red Gundam, Amate decides to join him in the Clan Battles, fighting alongside him in the GQuuuuuuX.
