Characters
Tom Sawyer
Voice - Masako Nozawa, Barbara Goodson (English)
A young boy living in the rural town of St. Petersburg by the Mississippi River. He lost his parents at an early age and was raised by his aunt Polly, who treated him like her own child. Tom is lively and mischievous, loves playing pranks, and dislikes studying. He often rushes out to play right after school and stays out until dark. Though he causes some trouble for Polly and Mary, he is quite popular among his classmates.
"Huck" Huckleberry Finn
Voice - Kazuyo Aoki, Brianne Siddall (English)
Tom's best friend. After losing his mother early on, he escaped his alcoholic father and built a treehouse in the woods, living freely without attending school. The townsfolk dislike him, calling him "Huck the homeless," but the children admire his carefree lifestyle.
"Becky" Rebecca Thatcher
Voice - Keiko Han
The daughter of a local judge who moved from St. Louis. Tom has a crush on her and tries hard to get her attention. Eventually, they become good friends and even get "engaged," but Becky gets upset and cuts off contact when she finds out Tom was also "engaged" to Amy Lawrence. She dreams of becoming an actress and has a fear of heights.
Aunt Polly
Voice - Haru Endo, Philece Sampler (English)
The maternal aunt of Tom and Sid. After her sister's passing, she welcomed her nephews into her home and raised them as her own. She often finds herself the target of Tom's pranks and frequently feels exasperated by his antics.
"Sid" Sydney Sawyer
Voice - Sumiko Shirakawa, Brianne Siddall (English)
Tom's younger brother, three years his junior. He contrasts sharply with Tom, being a diligent student with a serious demeanor. Despite his youth, he is clever and resourceful, adept at navigating life's challenges. With a buzz cut and glasses, he is seldom addressed by his full name.
Mary Sawyer
Voice - Kaoru Ozawa, Melora Harte (English) Polly's daughter and Tom and Sid's cousin. They treat her like a sister, and they have a relationship like real siblings. Mary is dependable and kind, aspiring to become a nurse and sometimes helps Dr. Mitchell. She is often regarded as the most beautiful woman in town.
Muff Potter
Voice - Keiken Mine, Robert V. Barron (English)
An older man living in the village. While the adults disapprove of him due to his drinking, he has a friendly nature and gets along well with Tom and Huck. His grandfather was a pirate, rumored to have hidden treasure in the village. Muff is wrongfully accused of Robinson's murder by Injun Joe and put on trial, but Tom's testimony saves him, as he witnessed the whole incident.
Injun Joe
Voice - Eiji Kanie, Kenji Utsumi (Eps 38-49), Tom Wyner (English)
A rogue Indian residing in the village. Both adults and children fear him due to his violent past. Though he is the main antagonist, his portrayal is less menacing than in the original novel. After Tom testifies against him, he encounters Tom in a cave and says, "Thanks to you, I've had a lot of trouble," reassuring Tom that he wouldn't harm him. In the end, he is discovered by the sheriff while searching for Tom and Becky, and after a desperate escape, he falls into a deep ravine.
