Tatsuya Uesugi and Kazuya Uesugi are twins. Kazuya, the younger brother, is dedicated to both sports and academics, while Tatsuya, the older brother, excels at various activities but approaches everything with indifference. Their neighbor, Minami Asakura, who is the same age, has been a part of their lives since childhood. As they transition into high school and adolescence, they begin to see each other as potential romantic interests. The three of them share a close bond akin to family, but they find themselves entangled in a delicate love triangle at Meisei Academy High School.

Kazuya is the ace of the baseball team, with Minami as the manager. However, Minami is also aware of Tatsuya's romantic feelings for her. Tatsuya wishes to express his feelings to Minami but fears that it might disrupt their shared friendship. Kazuya aims to demonstrate his love for Minami by leading her and the team to the Koshien championships, but tragedy strikes when he is killed in a traffic accident on the way to the district qualifying finals. In the aftermath, Tatsuya steps into his brother's role as ace pitcher and harnesses his natural talent to complete Kazuya's goal of making Minami's dream of attending Koshien a reality.
