Ao no Miburo
The elderly Nagakura Shinpachi, a former member of the Shinsengumi who weathered the chaotic Bakumatsu period and later became the master of a swordsmanship dojo, was approached by his young students. They eagerly asked him to share tales about the Shinsengumi. With a warm smile, he decided to reveal a unique story he had kept to himself — a tale about three "wolves" who never made it into history: Chirinuo, Tanaka Taro, and Saito Hajime.
In March 1863, during the third year of the Bunkyu era, when the Shinsengumi was still known as the Mibu Roshi group. The story begins with Chirinu Nio, a kind-hearted boy who lives with his grandmother and younger sister at the dango shop Chirinuya in Kyoto. One day, he encounters two members of the Mibu Roshi, Toshiro Hijikata and Soji Okita, who have come in as customers...
