In February, Renji Kusakabe, a university student working part-time at a game center, noticed a British girl struggling with a crane game. Feeling sorry for her, he helped her win the stuffed animal she wanted. He casually said, "Happy Valentine's Day," unaware the meaning was different in the UK. The girl, Lily Baker, took it as a love confession.
Later, Lily returned with a card that said, "Be My Valentine!" Renji realized he had caused a misunderstanding. To handle it gently, he suggested they be friends first. They started exchanging diaries. By April, Lily transferred to a Japanese school and made friends, including Renji's younger sister, Aoi, and classmates like Karin and Hotaru. Lily's mother, Cheryl, happily observed their bond, while her father, Oliver, who was protective of her, began visiting the game center too.
This story unfolds their intercultural journey, sparked by a single stuffed animal, in a game center.
