Hajime Shinonome was born in the slums and became an orphan. After working hard, he became a skilled warrior, but he wanted a more peaceful life, so he chose to be a rural village's exclusive adventurer. He diligently handles troublesome requests, so he has a good reputation among the villagers. One day, while on a quest, he finds a girl named Rirui in a dungeon, about to be eaten by a slime, and saves her. He couldn't just leave her because, like him, she had been abandoned by her parents and was taking on dangerous quests at a young age. So, he decided to look after her as a fellow adventurer. Rirui is a happy and carefree girl who never gives up and laughs a lot, however, her mysterious background may require investigation.
