Noriko Tachiki is a high school girl living a perfectly ordinary life. One morning, she sees a shimmering golden bird from her dreams appear before her at the school gate. Compelled to follow it, she is led into what seems like a traffic accident, but instead transports her to a strange, unknown world. In this new place, she sees visions of different factions eager to seize control of the "Awakening," a power that seems to grant the ability to rule the world. Not understanding where she is, Noriko is attacked by a savage monster but is saved by the wandering warrior, Izark. As the reincarnation of the greatest evil, the Sky Demon, Izark has been shunned by anyone who knows of his origin. With Noriko, who knows nothing of this world, he may be able to confide in this stranger in a way that would not be possible with anyone else, as they travel to evade those who wish to capture her for her powers.
