Kuroe Akaishi is a high school girl who faces an unexplained illness that has made her feel isolated at school. Although she tends to be clumsy and shies away from social interactions, she finds herself falling in love with Arata Minami after a certain encounter. When she realizes her feelings, a sleeping power within her awakens. Soon after, her mother reveals to Kuroe that she is actually a kaiju, a truth that is confirmed by a vivid "dream" she has the night before, where she rampages through Tokyo in her monster form. Kuroe struggles to accept this new reality, but she is most concerned about whether Arata will be able to love her in both of her forms.
