At the start of the 20th century, in a world dominated by steam engines, Kyoto is a city shrouded in smoke. In this steam-powered world, Kihachi Sakamoto dreamed of bringing in a new age of electricity alongside his older brother. However, he had to set aside those dreams when his brother mysteriously vanished along with their blueprint catalog. One day, Kihachi encounters Inako Momokawa, a young girl struggling with an arranged marriage. When they discover that recovering the missing catalog could help them both, they set off on an adventure to find Seiroku Sakamoto and the lost catalog.
