Within the inner palace of the Eikoku Empire, there is a place where unmarried women from the five great noble houses are gathered to be trained as the next generation of consorts. Kou Reirin, a princess from one of these families, is called the Crown Prince's Butterfly for her beautiful appearance and kindness, and it is said that she is certain to be the next Empress. On the other hand, Shu Keigetsu, another princess from the five families, is called the Court Sewer Rat and is disliked by the people of the palace. Keigetsu envies Reirin who is loved by everyone, and on the night a comet streaks across the sky for the first time in hundreds of years, she uses Taoist magic, causing their bodies to swap with each other.
