The Vermilion Mask
Shuiro no Kamen

In this world, powerful masks can bestow their wearers with extraordinary abilities. During a citywide festival celebrating the "Masquerade," Peru, a traveling mask maker, has just opened a streetside stall. There, he encounters the thief Sonarue, who targets one of his masks. After a brief chase, Peru recovers his property and boldly declares that he has come to this country to destroy all of Gaston Roux's masks.

Years ago, Peru put on one of the most powerful masks created by his master, Gaston, causing him to go berserk and unintentionally kill his friends and his master. In an effort to atone for his past, he now travels to destroy every one of these powerful masks, using his own creations to grant himself the power to do so.
